Don't Wait Until It's Too Late!
6/5/05
We only have so much time.
This is a very serious and sobering message!
The sobering truth is--so many people wait until it’s too late.
You can wait too late to say “I’m sorry.”
You can wait too late to be reconciled to someone
where the relationship was damaged.
You can wait too late to be obedient to something
the Lord has put on your heart.
You can wait too late to share Jesus with someone
who desperately needs Him.
You can wait too late to let someone know how much
you really appreciate them.
And most sobering of all--you can wait too late to
receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
King David was a great man. He loved the Lord and was greatly used by God to
lead Israel. But David waited until it was too late to deal with a serious
issue in his family and it turned into a catastrophic problem.
2 Sam. 3:2 Sons were born to David in Hebron:
His firstborn was Amnon the son of Ahinoam of
Jezreel;
3 his second, Kileab the son of Abigail
the widow of Nabal of Carmel;
the third, Absalom the son of Maacah
daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

Jer. 13:15 (NLT) Listen! Do not be proud, for the LORD has spoken. 16 Give
glory to the LORD your God before it is too late. Acknowledge him
before he brings darkness upon you, causing you to stumble and fall on the dark
mountains. For then, when you look for light, you will find only terrible
darkness. 17 And if you still refuse to listen, I will weep alone
because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears because the LORD’S
flock will be led away into exile.
Heb. 12:16 Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau. He traded
his birthright as the oldest son for a single meal. 17 And
afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he
wept bitter tears.
We never find time
for the things of the Lord--we make time!
Pr. 20:4 A sluggard does not plow in
season;
so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing.
A spiritual sluggard does not know how to plow--so
he cannot expect a spiritual harvest!
Jer. 8:20 “The harvest is past,
the summer has ended, and we are not saved.”
Lk. 13:24 (NLT) He replied, 24 “The door to heaven is narrow.
Work hard to get in, because many will try to enter, 25 but when the
head of the house has locked the door, it will be too
late. Then you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the
door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I do not know you.’ 26 You will
say, ‘But we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ 27 And
he will reply, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you. Go away, all you who do evil.’
28 “And there will be great weeping and gnashing of teeth, for
you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets within the Kingdom of
God, but you will be thrown out. 29 Then people will come from all
over the world to take their places in the Kingdom of God. 30 And
note this: Some who are despised now will be greatly honored then; and some who
are greatly honored now will be despised then.”
Lk. 19:41 (NLT) But as they came closer to Jerusalem and Jesus saw the city
ahead, he began to cry. 42“I wish that even today you would find the
way of peace. But now it is too late, and
peace is hidden from you. 43 Before long your enemies will build
ramparts against your walls and encircle you and close in on you. 44 They
will crush you to the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not
leave a single stone in place, because you have rejected the opportunity God
offered you.”
The wealthiest person in the world cannot buy
time.
Lk. 12:16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man
produced a good crop. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I
have no place to store my crops.’
18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my
barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19
And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years.
Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life
will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for
yourself?’
21 “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for
himself but is not rich toward God.”
