Jesus Is The Tapestry Of Life
2/26/06
Col. 1:15 He is the image of
the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all
things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by
him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things
hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is
the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he
might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his
fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all
things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his
blood, shed on the cross.
Col. 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity
lives in bodily form...
Ps. 41:1 Blessed is he who has regard for the weak;
the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
2 The LORD
will protect him and preserve his life;
he will bless him in the land
and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.
3 The LORD
will sustain him on his sickbed
and restore him from his bed of illness.
4 I said,
“O LORD, have mercy on me;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
5 My
enemies say of me in malice,
“When will he die and his name perish?”
6 Whenever
one comes to see me,
he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;
then he goes out and spreads it abroad.
7 All my
enemies whisper together against me;
they imagine the worst for me, saying,
8 “A vile
disease has beset him;
he will never get up from the place where he lies.”
9 Even
my close friend, whom I trusted,
he who shared my bread,
has lifted up his heel against me.
10 But
you, O LORD, have mercy on me;
raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 I know
that you are pleased with me,
for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 In my
integrity you uphold me
and set me in your presence forever.
13 Praise
be to the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
Amen and Amen.
Mk. 14:17 When evening came,
Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18While they were reclining at the
table eating, he said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray
me—one who is eating with me.”
19They were saddened, and one by one they said to him,
“Surely not I?”
20“It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips
bread into the bowl with me. 21The Son of Man will go just as it is
written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be
better for him if he had not been born.”
Peter walked with Jesus. He spent three years with him on earth. But after the resurrection Peter understood
Jesus in a whole new way!
1 Pet. 1:10 Concerning this
salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you,
searched intently and with the greatest care, 11trying to find out
the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was
pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would
follow. 12It was revealed to them that they were not serving
themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you
by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from
heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
We see the same thing with
Paul. Paul even said it himself.
2 Cor. 5:16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of
view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
1 Cor. 10:1 For I do not want
you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under
the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2They were all
baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. 3They all ate the
same spiritual food 4and drank the same spiritual drink; for
they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was
Christ.
Jesus going to the cross was
not God’s “plan B.”
Rev. 13:8 All inhabitants of
the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the
book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of
the world.
Lk. 24:13 Now that same day
two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from
Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that
had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things with each
other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16but they
were kept from recognizing him.
17 He asked them, “What are you discussing together as
you walk along?”
They stood still, their faces
downcast. 18One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you only a
visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in
these days?”
19 “What things?” he asked.
“About Jesus of Nazareth,”
they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all
the people. 20The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be
sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21but we had hoped that
he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the
third day since all this took place. 22In addition, some of our
women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23but
didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of
angels, who said he was alive. 24Then some of our companions went to
the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.”
25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow of
heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26Did not the
Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27And
beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said
in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
28 As they approached the village to which they were
going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. 29But they urged him
strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So
he went in to stay with them.
30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread,
gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31Then their
eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32They
asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with
us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Prophecy....
Is. 7:9 The
head of Ephraim is Samaria,
and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah’s son.
If you do not stand firm in your faith,
you will
not stand at all.’”
10 Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz, 11“Ask the
LORD your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest
heights.”
12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the
LORD to the test.”
13 Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it
not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God
also? 14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The
virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him
Immanuel. 15He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough
to reject the wrong and choose the right. 16But before the boy knows
enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you
dread will be laid waste. 17The LORD will bring on you and on your
people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since Ephraim broke
away from Judah—he will bring the king of Assyria.”

Mat. 1:18 This is how the
birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to
Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the
Holy Spirit. 19Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and
did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her
quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord
appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to
take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy
Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the
name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said
through the prophet: 23“The virgin will be with child and will
give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God
with us.”
Prophecy....
Hos. 1 “When
Israel was a child, I loved him,
and out of Egypt I called my son.
2 But the
more I called Israel,
the further they went from me.
They sacrificed to the Baals
and they burned incense to images.
3 It was I
who taught Ephraim to walk,
taking them by the arms;
but they did not realize
it was I who healed them.
4 I led
them with cords of human kindness,
with ties of love;
I lifted the yoke from their neck
and bent down to feed them.
5 “Will
they not return to Egypt
and will not Assyria rule over them
because they refuse to repent?

Mat. 2:12 And having been
warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by
another route.
13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to
Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape
to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the
child to kill him.”
14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the
night and left for Egypt, 15where he stayed until the death of
Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet:
“Out of Egypt I called my son.”
Prophecy....
Gen. 27:25 ...Jacob brought
it to him and he ate; and he brought some wine and he drank. 26Then
his father Isaac said to him, “Come here, my son, and kiss me.”
27 So he went to him and kissed him. When Isaac caught
the smell of his clothes, he blessed him and said,
is like the smell of a field
that the LORD has blessed.
28 May God
give you of heaven’s dew
and of earth’s richness—
an abundance of grain and new wine.
29 May
nations serve you
and peoples bow down to you.
Be lord over your brothers,
and may the sons of your mother bow down to you.
May those who curse you be cursed
and those who bless you be blessed.”

2 Cor. 2:14 But thanks be to
God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us
spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. 15For
we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and
those who are perishing. 16To the one we are the smell of death; to
the other, the fragrance of life.
Acts 4:12 Salvation is found
in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which
we must be saved.”
Jo. 3:35 The Father loves the
Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36Whoever believes in
the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for
God’s wrath remains on him.”
Jo. 5:21 For just as the
Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom
he is pleased to give it. 22Moreover, the Father judges no one, but
has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son
just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the
Father, who sent him.
1 Jo. 2:22 Who is the liar?
It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the
antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son. 23No one who denies the
Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
